Your data in Windle.

How forecasts, optional alerts, and service diagnostics use information.

Last updated: 11 October 2026

1. Who this policy covers

This policy explains how Windle handles information when you use its app, forecasts, widgets, and notifications. Windle is operated by Windle.lb. For questions or privacy requests, contact runelb.support@gmail.com.

Windle does not require an account. It does not use advertising identifiers or advertising-tracking SDKs, and it does not sell personal information.

2. Forecast requests and selected spots

To provide forecasts, Windle sends the identifier or coordinates of the spot you select to the Windle service. That service obtains the weather, marine, tide, and observation data needed for the selected point from its data providers.

These coordinates describe the forecast point you choose; they are not obtained from your phone’s GPS position. Windle does not request access to your device’s GPS location.

Forecasts and spot data may be cached so repeated requests can be served efficiently. Public forecast caches are keyed by forecast point, rather than by an account name.

3. Information used for optional alerts

If you enable Wind or Surf alerts, Windle can register your installation with its notification service. The registration includes:

This information is linked to your installation so the service can send the alerts you requested. A random identifier is not the same as anonymous data: it allows the service to recognise the same installation.

Windle uses these records to provide and personalise the alert service, rather than for advertising or tracking across other companies’ apps and websites.

4. Information stored on your device

The app stores favorites, selected spots, forecast-point adjustments, conditions, alert preferences, and recently loaded forecasts on your device. Widgets use shared local app storage to display your chosen spots.

Local settings are not all automatically uploaded. The watched spots and settings required for server notifications are transmitted when those notifications are enabled, as described above.

5. Service and diagnostic records

Windle’s service runs on Cloudflare. Technical records can include request URLs, timestamps, response status, errors, and service-execution metadata. URLs may contain forecast-point coordinates or the installation identifier used for an alert registration.

These records are used to operate the service, diagnose failures, and maintain reliability and security. Cloudflare also processes network information needed to deliver and protect the service.

The service configuration enables Cloudflare Workers logs and sampled traces. Their retention depends on the applicable Cloudflare service and account settings; they are separate from the alert database.

6. Service providers

Cloudflare provides hosting, caching, notification-registration storage, and service diagnostics. Apple provides notification delivery through APNs and map/search features through Apple Maps. Weather and marine models are supplied through Open-Meteo; tide and observation features also use public data providers described in the app’s Data & credits page.

Weather providers receive the forecast-point information needed for their requests. Windle’s forecast requests to those providers do not include the installation identifier or notification token used by its alert service.

These providers may process information under their own privacy policies and may operate in countries other than yours. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy, Apple’s privacy policy, and Open-Meteo’s terms and privacy information.

7. Retention and deletion

Your server-side alert registration and associated watched spots are retained while the service needs them to deliver your enabled alerts. Notification-history rows older than seven days are pruned during successful alert-processing runs.

To remove the alert registration, turn off both Wind alerts and Surf alerts in the app while connected to the internet. The app then requests deletion of the registration and related watched-spot and announcement records. If the deletion request cannot complete, Windle retries when it next synchronises.

The service also removes registrations when Apple reports that their push token is no longer valid. Deleting the app does not necessarily cause immediate deletion of its existing server registration. Technical logs follow their own retention settings.

Information that you voluntarily send when contacting support is used to respond to your request and handle any relevant privacy obligations. Contact support if you need assistance with deletion or access to installation-related records.

8. Your choices and rights

You can edit your favorites and conditions, stop alerts, and change Windle’s iOS notification permission. Removing a spot from the watched list updates the server registration when the app synchronises.

Depending on the law applicable to you, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of personal information, object to certain processing, or complain to your local data-protection authority. Contact runelb.support@gmail.com to make a request.

Windle does not ask for a name, date of birth, phone number, or email address to use its forecasts. You may provide contact information voluntarily when requesting support.

9. Policy updates

This page will be updated if Windle’s data-handling practices change. The date above identifies the latest version of this policy.
