How can we help?

Support for Windle forecasts, widgets, alerts, and privacy requests.

Contact Windle

When reporting a problem, include your Windle version, iPhone model, iOS version, the spot concerned, and what happened. Send only the information needed to explain the issue.

Getting started

Search for a spot, beach, or region, then open its forecast. Tap the star to keep it in Favorites. Switch between Wind and Sea to view the relevant conditions.

Use Favorites → Conditions in Settings to choose the wind and wave conditions you want for each spot. Those preferences are used by the forecast strips, widgets, and alerts.

What is Windle Mix?

Windle Mix combines the weather models available for each forecast hour. High-resolution models receive more weight where they provide coverage; longer-range forecasts increasingly rely on global models as regional forecasts reach their limits.

Open the mix explanation on a spot’s forecast page to see which models contribute and their weights. The displayed model-support score describes available model information and agreement; it is not a measured accuracy rate or a probability.

Notifications and alerts

Enable alerts

Open Settings → Wind alerts or Surf alerts, select the favorites you want to watch, and allow notifications when iOS asks. If notifications are blocked, review Windle’s notification permission in iPhone Settings.

Stop alerts and remove the server registration

Turn off both Wind alerts and Surf alerts in Windle. When the app can contact the server, it requests deletion of the installation’s alert registration and associated watched spots. If you are offline, reopen Windle with an internet connection so the request can complete.

Turning off notifications only in iPhone Settings changes whether iOS displays them; it does not itself remove Windle’s server registration.

Forecast or map problems

Check your internet connection and reopen the affected spot. Windle can keep its last loaded forecast, so check the update time before relying on cached conditions.

If a forecast point is unsuitable, open the spot’s map and adjust the forecast point. Points selected on the map represent the place you want forecast information for; Windle does not request your phone’s GPS position.

Sea forecasts can be unavailable for inland spots or when a data provider is unavailable.

Forecasts and observations

Forecasts are model estimates and may change. Windle labels live station readings separately, including their age and distance from the spot. Sea forecasts show the swell offshore and, where available, an estimate of surf at the beach.
